Your Background

Option 1

Your potential Background is between 1 and 3 years of learning French in High School, Institute, College or other. You have learnt French for a short time. But you never have a chance to practice.

You can identify and utilize familiar words, simple sentences and simple phrases.

You can present yourself or someone else.

You can ask and answer basic questions about your family, friends, home, school, job and hobbies.

Or

You learnt French for between 3 and 7 years in High school, institute, college or other. You have practiced for a short time.

You can introduce yourself or someone else. You have French words, phrases and common expressions to understand information or to talk about your personal life, family, friends, job, shopping, environment and hobbies.

You can use French during easy tasks requiring a necessary and direct information on social subjects.

You can use your background to talk in simple terms about your immediate needs.

Option 2

You learnt French for between 5 and 10 years in school. You used it in contexts such as travels, classes, work assignments…

You can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school and family.

You can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. You can describe experiences, dreams, events, hopes and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Or

You learnt for about 10 years or more.

Until now, you’ve practiced intermittently on many occasions.

You can understand the main ideas of texts on both abstract and concrete subjects. You can be fluent and spontaneous in discussions with native speakers.

You can produce clear and detailed texts on subjects and explain your position on multiple situations.
