How long does it takes to master French or Creole?  

Answering this question raises another one: How long will it take a foreign language learner to become an effective speaker? Based on the foreign language proficiency levels, there are six levels of proficiency such as: Novice High, Intermediate Low/Mid, Intermediate High, Advanced Low/Mid, Advanced High and Superior.

Therefore, a foreign language learner is recognized as an effective speaker when they can handle each one of the following levels: Intermediate Low/Mid, Intermediate High, Advanced Low/Mid, Advanced High and Superior.

24 weeks (480 hours)

80-92 weeks (2400-2760 hours)
